WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts an unspecified substat.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item is discarded and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be accessed anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks to keep your equipment up to date.
The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be less expensive than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to the level of ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will display the item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrading is based on the item slot and the current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers, for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or crests that are used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain amount, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Many locations have upgraders for their items, including the main Island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of obtaining a new recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.
Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at the beginning, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are only accessible via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and a drawback.
In Season 3, the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with several new features added. After a player has earned an upgrade to a certain level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will cost less even if they are part of another set of gear.
Recommended Web site is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available once certain milestones are achieved.
Crests
Players have a variety of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. They can use Flightstones, which are a general upgrade currency available to all, or crests, which are more specialized and consumed during upgrades on specific levels of the item. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1, and come in 4 ranks.
The first thing to remember is that crests are only available for equipment that is of a particular rank. Each rank comes with distinct upgrade paths. The simplest and simplest upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complex may require as many as 20 crests based on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by completing content at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by completing dungeons and raids in all difficulties to get lower-tier gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for endgame gear. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader for the item like Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and paths.
The use of these currencies isn't too complicated however, the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
It's also essential to use crests in a wise manner, as they only have one use. For instance it's a good idea utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan on making. This is particularly true for items such as trinkets and rings that take up multiple slots. The discount on the account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
